Diktatur (Diktat + Tastatur) is an iPhone app and keyboard for dictating Luxembourgish in any app: messages, emails, notes or documents. Speech recognition can be configured with different models. You can select between three open-weight models that run locally and transcribe your voice directly on the phone, even without an internet connection.

The highest accuracy comes from the LuxASR model used by their own web service and hosted by the University of Luxembourg. Diktatur uses its open API to send your voice to LuxASR, where it is processed under a strict privacy policy, as described on the service's website.

I developed Diktatur to make the Luxembourgish language more accessible to everyone, and to offer a more accessible way of entering text. The iPhone already supports dictation in many languages through iOS's built-in dictation feature, but Luxembourgish is not supported. Diktatur may also help people with fine motor disabilities or visual impairments write in Luxembourgish more easily than by typing on the on-screen keyboard. The app works well with screen readers such as VoiceOver. Feedback is welcome!
