Families, autistic people and teachers in Luxembourg all run into the same problem: the information they need about autism and school exists, but it is scattered across institutions, services and languages, and it is rarely there at the moment it is actually needed. hasilux.lu gathers it in one place, written to be used rather than filed away.
How it started
The idea was Joanne Theisen's. We co-created HASILUX and set up the non-profit Crunch Box a.s.b.l. to carry it, with funding from the Oeuvre Nationale. My part was the design and the development of the online portal.
It was never a two-person project in substance. A large team of volunteers, professionals and autistic people contributed the content and the expertise behind it, and the platform credits every one of them on its authors page.
What it holds
- Practical information about autism, aimed at autistic people, parents and the people who teach them.
- A database of services, contacts and resources available in Luxembourg.
- Material on inclusive education: what schools can do, and what pupils and families are entitled to expect.

Where it stands now
Crunch Box a.s.b.l. was dissolved in , after two years of activity, and its remaining funds went to ASTI, Nyki and Dysfocus. HASILUX itself continues: the platform is no longer run by the association, and Joanne Theisen and I maintain it independently so that the content stays available and up to date.
